"From the Spring of Song": Quick Center's Tribute to Jazz Legend Bill Evans

The Quick Center for the Arts pays tribute to the remarkable musical legacy of American pianist and composer Bill Evans , widely considered to be one of the most influential pianists in modern jazz. At 8 p.m., Friday, April 4, the Quick presents From the Spring of Song - A Tribute to Bill Evans , a program featuring music performed by Brian Torff , Fairifield University's Director of Jazz and Popular Music, on bass, Nick Sanders on piano,and Kurt Leon '07 on drums. Poet Bill Zavatisky will read from his eulogy to Bill Evans. The performance is made possible through a collaboration with the Bill Evans Estate. A pre-performance talk with Ken Druker, educator, producer, radio host and record label executive, takes place at 7:15 p.m. Sponsors are TV EYES, Venü magazine, and WPKN (89.5 FM).
