10th Annual Presidential Ball on Bellarmine Lawn. Over 2000 Attend
Fr. von Arx, S.J. and the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Student Association (FUSA) hosted the Tenth Annual Presidential Ball this past Friday, September 27 under an expansive tent on Bellarmine Lawn.
“Pres Ball was a success this year! With a Great Gatsby theme, students were dressed to the nines in their 1920s attire,” reports Jessica Ruddy, Program Coordinator in Student Programs who oversees FUSA events.
Ticket sales were swift with over 2,200 students attending this year’s gala and they were not disappointed as the event featured traditional group photos with Fr. von Arx, dancing, and great food and decorations.
After students passed through Bellarmine Hall, they were greeted by Fr. von Arx who patiently smiled for hundreds of group photos (see more at link below). Once in the tent, DJ International was a huge hit as students filled the enormous dance floor the entire evening.
The Great Gatsby inspired decorations were also a highlight of the event. Feathers and pearls filled the tables and chandeliers were hung above.
The food fit the theme too, with a mocktail bar serving cosmopolitans and peach Bellinis and classic pigs in a blanket and finger sandwiches.
FUSA President Alexander Long '14 summarized the event, "In my past four years at Fairfield I have attended every Presidential Ball and I can truly say that this has been the most successful one yet. With more thought-out preventive measures and the addition of a larger tent, we were able to make 'Prez Ball' a true success and one for all students to remember."
