Stags #2 Seed in MAAC Softball Tournament
The ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp softball team will continue their 2013 season with a berth in this weekend's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Stags, who shared the MAAC regular-season title with Siena College, will enter the tournament as the number two seed and will face third-seeded and host Marist College on Thursday, May 9 at noon. Top-seeded Siena will play fourth-seeded Niagara University at 2 pm later that day.
On Friday, May 10, game three includes the two winners from Thursday's games at 11 am. The fourth game will be an elimination contest with the loser of game one facing the loser of game two at 1 pm. Game five begins at 3 pm and features the winner of game four against the loser of game three.
The championship round is slated to begin on Saturday, May 11 when the winner of game three will play the winner of game five at noon. If needed, a seventh and deciding game will take place at 2 pm.

Siena enters the tournament with a 21-24 overall record and a 12-4 MAAC mark, while Fairfield brings a 27-19 record and a 12-4 MAAC slate. Marist owns a 27-24 overall record and a 10-6 MAAC record into the tournament, while Niagara rounds out the field with a 15-28 record and a 9-7 conference mark.
Fairfield junior
remains the team's top hitter with a .406 batting average and remains among the nation's leaders with 52 walks, a .578 on-base percentage, and a .767 slugging percentage.
, who was the team's top hitter during the month of April, is hitting .333 overall and ranks second on the team.
Pitchers

have enjoyed success in the circle this year. Ball has won 13 games and posted a 1.67 ERA over 138.0 innings of work. Trott picked up 12 victories in the regular season with a 2.90 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 108 innings of work.
