Sweet Sounds and Candy Canes add Festive Flair to Town Event

On Thursday evening, December 12, the Town of Fairfield will hold the 1 st Annual Holiday “Shop’N’Stroll,” and right in the middle of it all will be Sweet Harmony, ¶¶Ňô»ĆƬapp’s all-female ensemble of chamber singers.

Sweet Harmony singers, under the direction of Nicole Raposo, will join other school ensembles caroling up and down the Post Road in downtown Fairfield. Lucas the Stag, Fairfield’s mascot will accompany the singers and hand out candy canes to the shoppers and strollers. Participating shops in Town Center, Southport and Greenfield Hill will stay open late, offering special discounts and seasonal refreshments. The University Bookstore will also be participating in the special night with an author’s event and specials

Town First Selectman Mike Tetreau said, “This is a great opportunity to support our local businesses and get your holiday shopping done while enjoying a fun night out with family or friends.”

Martha Milcarek, assistant vice president for brand management and public relations, said she was delighted that Sweet Harmony and the Stag could break away from their busy end of semester schedules to participate in the special town event. “Our student groups are such wonderful ambassadors for the University and this is great visibility for us, plus it will just be a lot of fun for all concerned.”
